Paper for creative decoration

This is semi-parchment paper for wall decorations. It allows creating unique patterns in every home. As the decorations are so easily applied with this paper, it can be used not only by professionals, but also by people without experience in making decorative effects. The paper can be used on various surfaces, such as gypsum boards, plaster, concrete, and other interior surfaces.

Description

Surface preparation: The surface should be clean, dry, decreased, and stable. For freshly applied plaster, it should be seasoned for at least 4 weeks. Prime the substrate using Primacol primer (Fig. 1) and allow to dry for 12 hours. Improperly prepared substrate may cause paint to dry too quickly, blistering or decoration peeling.

  1. Crush firmly individual paper sheets and unfold them carefully to avoid sheet damaging (Fig. 2).
  2. Factory-cut edges should be torn off irregularly (Fig. 3). By tearing off the edges, visible joints of the sheets on the wall will be avoided.
  3. Paint the prepared surface with Decobase paint (with irregular moves and in various directions) within an area of 2-3 sheets (Fig. 4). Carry out your job in steps so that the paint does not dry before the sheet is applied. In order to obtain a ready colour effect, the paint can be coloured using Colourant or Collorix in the colour of your choice before use. Remember to colour a sufficient amount of paint to cover the entire surface to be decorated.
  4. Stick the paper to a wet surface, and gently shape a pattern in order to avoid sheet damaging (Fig. 5).
  5. Press adjacent sheets using a dry roller and remove air blisters at the same time (Fig. 6). Once 2-3 sheets are applied and pressed, paint another section of the surface, stick sheets, and press using a roller. Preferably, apply sheets irregularly; adjacent rows of sheets should be shifted by approx. a half sheet length. Do not correct or stick freshly applied, still wet sheets as it may cause damage to them. Allow the entire surface after application to dry for approx. 2 hours.
  6. Once dried, you can make some corrections, stick up loose edges using a flat brush and Decobase paint, or even replace improperly applied sheets. For this purpose, remove an old sheet using a spatula, repaint the surface, stick new sheets, and stick up the edges. Press all corrected spots with a dry roller. Allow to dry for another 2 hours.
  7. Once the entire surface is dried, repaint it in various directions using Decobase paint (the paint can be coloured using Colourant or Collorix). The surface should be painted thoroughly, and in all hollow sections as well. For this purpose, a flat brush can be used. Allow to dry again for 12 hours.
  8. The resulting effect can be decorated using stains and artist’s varnishes included in the Primacol Decorative range (Figs. 8, 9). The products can be coloured in any colour using Colourants. For more inspirations, visit www.dekorujemydom.pl.
