Travertine

Travertine – premium interior plaster based on natural lime binders and marble dust. It creates an effect imitating travertine with visible elements of the internal structure, natural spalling and pits. Because of the application method, the product is recommended mostly for persons experienced in interior decoration.

Description

Important! Prior to decoration on the main surface, always make a test to make sure the effect is as desired.

Surface: Travertine is intended for use on cement, cement-lime, gypsum boards and painted surfaces.

Surface preparation: The surface should be cleaned out of dirt, dust and degreased. It should be even, dry, sound and crack-free. Remove residues of paints, wallpapers and unstable plaster. Patch any spalling. Fresh cement plasters and cement-lime plasters must be seasoned for at least four weeks. The surface must be coated with Primacol Primer(very absorptive surfaces) or Primacol Priming Agent (surfaces of lower adherence).

Instructions for use:

  1. Mix well the product with water using a mixer until a consistency of thick cream is achieved (approx. 300 ml of water per 1kg of travertine). Always mix an amount of the product which is sufficient to cover the entire surface. This is particularly important for decorating a larger surface when several containers with the product must be used.
  2. Apply the plaster with grain-thick layers using a Venetian trowel and smoothen the plaster.
  3. After at least 12 hours, wet the surface well with water 2-3 times using a roller and apply another grain-thick layer of the plaster.
  4. A few minutes after application of the second layer, smoothen the surface and proceed with shaping the travertine pattern. Scratch the patter with the trowel edge (at the right angle).
  5. Gently wipe with a dry sponge along the pattern direction “to clean” the pits.
  6. Smoothen the entire surface with the trowel before completely dry.
  7. After 12 hours, apply the Primacol decorative varnish on the dry plaster surface. Be careful not to leave damp patches.
  8. In order to obtain the decorative effect in the colour of your choice, coat the surface with the Primacol decorative varnish dyed with the Primacol pigment. Distribute the colour evenly. Remove any excess with a dry sponge to avoid damp patches. All steps with the varnish must be performed along the direction of scratches.

Once the job is completed, ventilate the room until the odour is gone. When mixed with water, use up the product within 2 days.

Storage: Store in the original, tight container within a temperature range of 5 °C to 30 °C.
